Tanzania is home to two of Africa’s best-known protected areas: the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The Serengeti offers year-round wildlife viewing, with the Great Migration moving through different parts of the park depending on the season. The Ngorongoro Crater is considered one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa.
Many travellers combine their safari with a beach stay on Zanzibar — ideal for a two- to three-week trip. The best time to visit is June to October (dry season) and December to February.
